I'm applying as an 08/09 transfer and have a few questions

Is there a significant difference in the acceptance rate between transfer EA and RN? I am correct in thinking transfer EA is similar to freshman EA?

Also, I've heard Chicago accepts a vast majority of its transfers from top 25 universities/LACs, is this true?

My son is a new transfer this year. He was accepted as a freshman last year, matriculated elsewhere [USC], realized he had made a mistake, and reapplied regular notification. Another accepted transfer applicant from these boards applied EA from Penn, but decided to stay. He also was accepted as a freshman. My son's roomates are from BU and Tulane.
"Also, I've heard Chicago accepts a vast majority of its transfers from top 25 universities/LACs, is this true?"
In reading the blogs on Chicago's transfer forum last year as well as transfer threads here, it seems to be true in many cases.

I just transferred in, and it was not true in my case. I can from a small state school that is probably unheard of, however, I was wait listed out of high school. And yeah, there are about 40 transfers, and they put all of us in the same building...but I would say applying EA shows that you show more intrest and it can never hurt you, so I'd say go for it.

I've heard Chicago generally accepts about 100-125 transfers every year, am I correct in assuming this will not change even if they over-enroll freshmen?

I don't think that is a correct assumption. They usually accept enough to net out 50 students each year. I was told that they have fewer this year [40] specifically because they were overenrolled with Freshman.
