Transfer

hey guys I want to attend a university for a year and then try to transfer to Stern at the end of first year (so i'll be applying next fall).

I want to ask how hard is it to transfer into Stern from another school? Is there a percentage? and class requirements?

i'm debating between attending Boston U or CUNY Baruch in the city for my first and/or second year before trying to transfer to NYU Stern.

Which one should I go to? Does it matter?

Let's say I choose BU (have to pay around 20k a year), and i get a 3.0

versus Baruch (free tuition) and i get a 3.5 GPA?

which one would Stern likely accept? Does the college's name really matter?

Thanks a lot guys .. lots of questions and sorry !

and what if i get 3.5 at both schools? which would be better for acceptance into Stern?

thx again

I don't know if it is the school that matters as much as the grades. As long as you show that you are doing very well - no matter the school you are attending - you should be okay. There are people who went to community colleges and ended up transferring to Yale.

Woah. transferring to yale after 2 years of community college ?

that's a bit of a relief ...

are these transfers guaranteed a high chance at transferring to a prestigious college? or is it very rare that transfers can get into their college of choice after 1 or 2 years?

Baruch. Good business school, well known in NY. There are people in Baruch Honors who have chosen it over Stern. Don't take on the debt if you're gonna transfer, I'd go Baruch definitely...

Yeah man, I'm proabably going to do the same thing. I plan on applying to transfer into umcp or unc next year if I dont like ohio. I'm attending there since I got money and was waitlisted at my top choices.

are these transfers guaranteed a high chance at transferring to a prestigious college?

sorry for asking so many questions.

Duper.. but i'm baruch regular lol.

Baruch Honor kids take pretty much the same classes as the regular kids. They just have a few extra benefits. Save them money, go to Baruch.
