How difficult is it to get accepted as a transfer to Brown ?

I'm not sure, but keep in mind there is no fin. aid for transfers.

I'll let you know in a month.

There is fin aid (limited though) for transfers now.

no fin aid for transfers??? ah crap. i guess that means i'll have to figure out something else if i dont get off the wailist... no fin aid would rule out transfering.

not only is there not much aid, they accept people based on need, which i assume means they accept a bunch of rich people.

score one for me checking the "I don't need aid" box!

but do you need aid maize?

and the acceptance rate is typically much higher for transfers than frosh applicants

Money isn't a problem. Dad was a little irked by me wanting to transfer from 12k a year to 41k a year, but I talked him into it.

Argh, I guess I am going to have to call them and tell them I don't want aid. deep sigh

you're so ridiculously lucky maize. its so unfair.

i HAVE to apply for aid because my efc is so low that it would be ridic to give up the possibility of aid

However, i love Brown enough that I would be willing to do anything to go there, and would pay for it without aid. so i'm in a tight spot

maybe i should write them a letter. what do you think?

I think you should call them and ask. Talk to an admissions officer live and tell him your situation. If you'd be willing to pay for it w/o aid, tell him that, and ask if you should write a letter.

Clay, I'm calling tomorrow, too.

I could have sworn they said they were need blind above the box asking for aid? I only checked no because I knew hell would freeze over before my family would be qualified for finaid - no use in wasting my/their time.

for the 8,000 time, they are not need blind

Don't bother, guys, the decisions have been made...the letters will be mailed Friday.

Jesus, I must have been out to lunch when I was doing the application. I could have sworn it said they were need blind and mailed decisions on MAY 15.

ARE YOU SERIOUS... FRIDAY??? Who'd you hear from?

check the transfers thread . . .
