Transfer?

I'm finishing up my freshman year at Northwestern and have at a bad time become interested in transferring to Tufts. Would it be worth it to transfer for junior yr? Do many kids do that? Thanks.

If you are really unhappy where you are, it's not too late to transfer! Make sure you are doing so for the right reasons though, because you will be an "unconventional" transfer in that most transfer do so as sophomores.

I think it's absolutely fine to transfer as a junior although you'd have some advantage entering Tufts as a sophomore of course.
A lot of students wait until their third semester to process transferred application because at that time they'd have enough confidential at their present college.
My brother is attending Brandeis and he's also looking forwards to transferring to Tufts. I think he'd enter Tufts as a junior if he can make it.
So... it's up to you actually.

Junior transfers aren't unconventional at all. We see (and admit) a reasonable portion of our transfer pool as prospective junior Jumbos.
