What do you call it when you go to a college for one year then go to another one for the next few years? Is there a difference between that and going to a college for two years and then going to another one for two years?

I'm just wondering cause some schools don't accept "transfers." What is considered a transfer?

Either is a transfer–you can transfer after any amount of time at a U–even just a semester. It is more common to transfer after 2 years, but there are many different paths.

If you go to a junior college and get an associates degree (2 year degree) and then go to another institution, I do not believe that is considered thansfering.

Us our kids were interested in do accept transfers, which they defined as college-level coursework after HS, whether or not you get an AA degree from a CC/JC.

Yes, it is considering transferring and it’s the most common way. If you’re a high school student while you earn your degree many places will consider you as a freshman, and may not even give you any credit, otherwise you’re a transfer student. You can’t decide to forgo your credit and start over or anything like that.
