i know this isnt the right thread but anyways let me ask
i would be going to college this august , am indian ofc ,now what i want to ask is about transfers ie can i transfer this year itself or would have to wait and how hard is it to get selected and also what are financial aid given to transfer students
ps -if anyone knows anyone who is applying or has transfered please let me know

For international students, you’ll need to transfer after you finish a year of college. That’s next fall.
As for financial aid, most schools do not give international transfer students financial aid. Some, like Harvard, MIT, etc., do.
As for how hard it is to get selected, that’s varies a LOT.

Transferring from an Indian college to a US college with aid is, I would suppose, near impossible. From what I’ve heard.

My sister’s friend transferred from VJTI to Cornell, but without aid.

thank you for ur replies so finally is it worth a shot keep in mind that i would be needing aid

Oh god, its you
IIT isn’t that bad man!

eldiablo: Yes, its worth a shot. Apply only to the need-blind ones though.

eldiablo, please give these guys your full profile and expectations. Only then will it be fair for them to comment on what should be done.

True. Also, expect a HUGE credit loss. Indian credits are very incompatible. Also, some colleges require courses in other fields other than engineering, which IIT doesn’t offer. Be prepared to start from freshman year.

well i had been thinking of transferring as well since i couldnt apply earlier because of some personal problems. Any suggestions on what all colleges i should apply to? Oh n btw i complete my sophomore year coming fall.
