transfer ???

This ? is for a friend: he is going to be a sophomore at a Florida Comm College, his current GPA is 3.5. My ? is, how does UF critique his application? I had heard that UF and other Fla Universities accepted all JC students as long as they maintained a high GPA and fullfilled all of the course requirements.

Is this the way it works??

Not evertyone is guaranteeed admission. If that were the case they would all opt to transfer to UF and get in.

If he/she wants to transfer to UF, tell him/her to keep the GPa up and just apply.

I’ve heard the “guaranteed admission to UF” thing before too.

I think that catch is that although you may technically be admitted to the university, you have to compete to be admitted into a program. For example I am a nursing student, you can’t just declare your major as nursing, you have to be accepted into the College of Nursing.

That’s all wrong. The Florida 2 + 2 program says that if you complete an AA with one of the community colleges (Florida State Colleges), then you’re guaranteed to be accepted into one of the eleven public universities in the state. That does not mean you have your pick as to which one.

Due to the recent enrollment reduction mandate, in order to transfer into a university, your friend is going to need to have all the prerequisites for his specific program completed, a competitive GPA for entry into that program, and his AA before transferring.

I am transfer student. He needs to have his pre-reqs completed and I heard they base a new GPA on those pre-reqs. Tell him to research his major and make sure he has all of his pre-reqs done and if he does good on all of those then he should get in.

My friend had around a 3.4 GPA, his AA, and all of his pre-reqs done but he still didn’t get in. He got a C in one of his 7 pre-reqs and a B in one more; the other 5 were all A’s.

UFNawz what was his major? That is very important as some require 3.7’s for the pre-reqs
