transfer

I am currently a freshman at a private school and was interested in applying to u of m for sophomore transfer. does anyone have any suggestions or been in the same situation? i was accepted last year to michigan but thought i would do better at a smaller school but now i'm not so sure...

thanks!

Woww. I was in the same situation. I didn’t go to Umich for my freshman year because I had no idea what I was doing or what I wanted to be. After thinking about it a lot, I knew what I wanted to study, so I transferred as a sophomore. :)

Umich will still put emphasis on your ACT/SAT and high school scores when you transfer as a sophomore. You might want to fill out the application now, but not submit it until after your first semester grades. Another option is working on it during winter break, but I’m not sure if you’d want to do that. Read the essay prompts ahead of time and think about what you want to say now. That will make your life a lot easier when you submit your application.

After I sent in my application, Umich accepted me after a month. Good luck! :D

thank you so much! are you happy that you transferred to u of m?

I didn’t transfer to UM, but I had some success applying as a transfer student. I have one main piece of advice:

For God’s sake, do your essays over winter break (I assume you’re applying to more than one school).

And for your essays, you have to really do some research and find out why you want to transfer to a specific school AND why you can’t get that at your current school. For the applications and essays in which I only mentioned one of those things, I got rejected. For the applications and essays in which I mentioned both, I got accepted.

What’s ur major?

Thanks for the advice.

And my major is biology. I may be pre-nursing. I either want to be a nurse anesthetist or an orthodontist.
