transferable gpa question

if i earn an A in a 5 unit course, would that be any different than earning an A in a 3 unit course? Is there any difference when calculating GPA? If so, how would i calculate that?

i know you give yourself 4 point for every A. But i just wanted to know if maybe i can calculate it differently with a 5 unit course.

thanks!

yes it makes a big difference when factoring all of your grades... here is a link to my favorite online GPA calculator.. I used it all the time to see where I was before transferring.

good luck

Yes there is b/c it's based on units and not just the letter grades

A - 4 pts
B - 3
C - 2
D - 1

example:
Math - 4 units - B
japanese - 5 units - A
backed in high school it will considered to be 3.5 since it's the mean of the grades

but for college look how it differs
Math - 4 units - B (the B grades equals three points 3pts x 4units = 12 pts
Japanese - 5units - A ( 4x5 = 20 points

total points = 20+12=32
total units = 5+4 = 9 units
points divide by the units
32/9 = 3.555
