transfering after freshman year

Um i want to apply to the Umass as a transfer student in the fall of 2010. I am currently going to attend Bryant University to study business law Major in accounting minor in legal stuides. First semester of freshman year i am taking mathematics of finance, introduction to business, Intro to liberal arts, introduction to global politics, introductiont to college ( easy class) and micro economics this totals out to 16 credits. I plan on dropping intro to global politics so that i can have 5 classes and study for 4. I'll be under the requirement for Bryant but im more worried about getting good grades. In high school i didn't get good results till senior year because i finally was able to figure out what worked for me and what didn't. Fresh-sophmore year i got overall averages ranged from 85-89 but senior year my averages is 89-95. No one told me what to do since i never had someone to ask. But now i know what works for me. I didn't get good sats either so that might hurt my chances. If i get above a 3.5 gpa in college would Umass be a good choice and if so would dropping introduction to global politcs be better for me or worse. Plz help i want a good future. I got into Umass this year but not for the major i wanted to be in. I got put in the general school i forget what its called.

UMass recommends taking at least 15 credits a semester. So no, I would not drop the class since it would put you under 15 credits.

I transfered to UMass after completeing my freshman year at a Mass. state college. I had a 3.54 and was accepted to my first choice major, sport management. If you are dead set on attending UMass, I recommend taking UMass Gen Ed courses that are similar to some courses you might take at Bryant so they should easily transfer over.

Are you trying to get into Isenberg? They might not accept many of the courses you are taking except for global politics and micro. I took an intro to business course at my old college, but they only offered me general transfer credit for it. Remember, if you don’t get into Isenberg on your first try but are still accepted to UMass, you can always apply to do an on campus transfer as long as you have a decent gpa in Isenberg predictor courses. (Micro, macro, accounting, calc)

well im going to take a class in the summer after my freshman year to catch up because i want to get good grades so i have a total of 5 classes and my goal is to get above a 3.5 gpa try for 4.0 at bryant.

Why U Mass over Bryant? What is attracting you to U Mass? Have you visited, talked to students, checked out the dorms, etc. If you do not gain admittance to your preferred major, you will need to demonstrate good grades in difficult courses in order to apply to that school once you are in U Mass…and there is no guarantee. Bryant has a terrific business school that is well respected - are you hoping for Isenberg?

I got into the ten school for undeclared majors I am applying because of the fees that I have to pay at Bryant

what i meant was i got into the school

yes im hoping to get into isenburg and the reason why i want to leave is because of the fees at bryant. I got no money and i should of gone to a cheaper school but i didn’t idk because i wanted to go to a well respected school i guess. Plz help

bump…
