Transfering AFTER gap year?

Okay, so I was wondering if it would be at all possible to, after freshman year of college to take a gap year, do americorps or something and then transfer the credits you got in that freshman year to another college? Thank u!

At the vast majority of colleges this would be possible. Whether or not it’s advisable is another question.

How are you paying for college? The best aid is generally given to freshmen, not transfers. Why do you want to transfer, and why do you want to take a gap year before you do?

Here’s a couple of things I suggest you look into. First, if you are going to be receiving any financial aid, will you be under any repayment obligation during your year off? Second, if you are doing this to try and trade up in schools by having better extracurricular activities, how much time will you have spent in Americorps by the time transfer applications are due? Is there a reason you can’t do this with a gap year after high school directly?
