Transfering, and taking summer courses. UCLA UCD

I'm a community college student, hoping to transfer to either UCLA or UCD for the fall. If I am admitted for the fall semester, is there anyway of taking courses in the summer before the start of the school year?

bump bump bump bump

thanks thanks thanks

anyone…?

Yes.

You can sign up as a visiting student (I think sign-ups are pretty soon. Mar 1 for UCLA) and switch them over to your student account if accepted.

You can wait until you get in, then sign up.

(1) is more difficult and costly, but gives you a better chance at a spot if the course is filling up quick. (2) is what people normally do, and what I plan to do as the courses I want have plenty of spots left.

I agree with rpicton. I would go with 2 because if you don’t get in then you lose some money. I’m not sure if it’s refundable, but 2 is safer in general.

Okay thanks, guys. I’m assuming the same thing is true for Davis (My second choice)?

I didn’t check, but I think it’s the same for all UCs. Some UCs for some majors actually encourage going to the summer session. For example, Cal suggests CS majors complete one of the CS 61’s in the summer.

sweet. thanks guys. You’ve answered my question.
