Hey guys I’m a senior in high school and planning out my transfer process. Is it typical to transfer without much GEs done?
Fall: calc 1, eng 22 , physics, english
Spring: calc 2, matlab, physics, english
Fall: calc 3, eng 36, physics, linear
Spring:differential, Eng 43 , eng 45, modern physics
So as you can see I can’t really fit any sort of GE classes in. I plan to go to UC Davis, can I just satisfy their GE requirement when I’m there? With all of my lower doc major pre-rete out of the way, would I still be able to finish Davis in 2 years?
Yes most engineering transfers focus on only the engineering pre-reqs and breadth courses.
Can you take Calc 3 and linear together? (I’m not sure if it’s a pre-req to linear) If your able to take them both together and you decide to, be careful. Linear’s no joke -it will be hell.
I would recommend taking some courses during the summer.
Check the website for transfer requirements; be sure to look at their admitted profiles since the school is competitive. https://www.ucdavis.edu/admissions/undergraduate/transfer/requirements
You need to use Assist. You need to have junior standing with 60 semester units or 90 quarter units completed by the end of the Spring before transfer.
If you are OOS, then you will have even more requirements and more costs.
The website doesn’t bite and you will get most of your questions answered there.
You should be able to figure this out. Go to the Davis engineering website and look at the majors you are interested in. They list the requirements upper-division classes and sample programs. Start with a sample program, add in the lower division units required for GE and see if you can fit them all in within 2 years.
If Davis is your top choice you ought to use TAG if you can. In fact, its a good idea to TAG to some school no matter your top choice just so you have a guarantee of getting in somewhere.
