Hello,
I am currently attending a community college at the moment. I have two semesters at the community college but had gone to a four year university for a year before going there. I chose to leave the university for personal reasons but I am very ready to get back on track on the way to a career in international relations, which is my passion. I heard from a friend that American had a good international relations program and was curious what my chances were of getting in. I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips and advice during this process. I am hoping to transfer spring semester. I am African-American/Latina and have a 3.5 GPA. In high school, I volunteered a lot and was in several clubs. I’ve also worked a few jobs but am currently just in school. Also if anyone knows of other schools that would be good to apply to with my credentials and interest in IR, those would be great to consider as well. I am applying to a few others but American is my top choice. Thank you so much in advance.
colombiana101, I wish you the best of luck with your transfer applications. As you know, American is a great school for international relations. You mentioned you high school GPA of 3.5. However, since you have attended both a four year college and a community college since high school, any school you apply to will be looking at those grades.
Hey NewJerseyMom! Sorry if I wasn’t specific! This is my overall college GPA. Do you think I have good chances for acceptance?
I would use the first website to make sure your credits transfer and the second to see how many of those credits go to your major.
I’m applying there Fall 2016 for transfer too and I’m also a CC student, keep me posted!
hey! I’m applying Spring 2016 so I’ll definitely keep you posted!

That’s what I’m thinking. Sounds good I’ll keep you updated too.
have you heard back? I haven’t and i’m freaking out @Rocky0117
Lol I was wondering the same thing. I’m freaking out over here too. I’m tempted to email admissions, or call. But I’ll give it another week. I figured we would hear back this week because, I assumed they would want to give us some time to prepare for transfer if admitted you know?
