im in 12 grade, florida now
i want to go to santa monica community college (its out of state in california), get my associates degree, then take a break for a year or two to get a job, become independent, and get california residency
Is it possible to then pick back up where i left off and transfer to UCLA?
If not, how could i get into ucla after the two year break.

Yes it’s possible. However, you will need to explain why you took a break and you should come up with something a little better than “getting CA residency.” If you were already in CA it would be as easy as saying “I wanted to take a year off to save up money for tuition” but you should somehow explain your move too. I’m sure a personal statement talking about how you decided to move for personal growth would be fine.

Thank you ^_^

^You don’t need a 3.8+ to go UCLA, unless you apply for a very impacted major like Economics or Engineering. UCLA publishes average GPA by major every year, and few top a 3.8. That said, you should always have backups, no matter what your major, GPA, or target schools are.

Well ya, if he will be classified as OOS, then absolutely.
