I just attended a community college for two years. I am a few credits short of my associate’s degree. I was going to transfer to a four-year college, but after two years of catching up to the level of the average high school student, plus a year in college 20 years ago, I have raked up about 20k in financial aid. It does not look like I will be able to afford the required four more years at the Big 12 school even at in-state rate. So I am thinking about transferring to another four year college for flying airplanes; an aviation AS degree. This too will be about 70k total, but I only have about 25k left in fin aid as an undergrad. I figured I would transfer to this school and work a full-time job to pay for flight costs. I want to live on campus, but I am wondering about my financial aid being pulled for not getting my AA here at my current school. Would I still be eligible for two more years of financial aid at a new 2 year college? Thanks.
Edit- I am thinking about transferring to another TWO year college. Sorry…
Your first stop should be with your CC FA office. Talk to them. They have seen this before.
Yes, I was going to head over today and talk to them, but they have gave me wrong advice in the past, so I thought I would ask here, also.
Checking for clarity…you will be spending $70,000 total and will end up,with an associates degree? Why not spend that same amount and get your bachelors degree…at an instate public university?
You could go part time at the four year school, and work full time…until you finish your degree.
Or look for a college with a co-op program whereby you work every other term.
