Transfering From UC to UC.. General Ed's Transferred?

Hey guys.. This fall I'm transferring from UCR to UCSB. I finished my Breath requirements (ge's) at Riverside.. Do I still have to meet the GE requirements at UCSB? How would SB know if I finished my Ge's at another school? The transcript would just say the classes I've taken..

I also don't know if I need to submit leave of absence or something at my current school. I called the registar and they told me to notify the academic advisor.. so I called the advisor and they told me to call the registar! I don't know what to do at this point..

So if you have finished all of your GE (or Breadth) requirements at UC Riverside you qualify for UC Reciprocity at UCSB. UC Reciprocity allows for your GE’s at one UC to qualify for the GE’s at the other UC. Keep in mind, these are all lower division GE’s.

You also must ask UC Riverside to send a letter of UC Reciprocity to UCSB, so they know you have fulfilled the UC Reciprocity agreement. Don’t forget to do this or you may run into problems!

As for leaving UC Riverside, contact them and tell them you want to cancel registration for Fall 2010 and withdraw from campus. Do this before they charge you for tuition fees! Usually, the registrar takes care of this.

The reason why I know all of this is because I am also a UC Intercampus Transfer. I’m transferring from UCSB to Berkeley next fall! I had to go through all the same steps as yourself. Hope this helps!

Thanks soo much for your helpful information. Saved me a huge future load of headaches… I do have to ask tho… how do I request for UC reciprocity? Is there a form to ask for or they just do it in the computer? Send it? Would I just ask the registar? Cause most of them seem so clueless… They kept telling me to ask UCSB admissions on what to do but I figured I need UCR to actually notify UCSB.

I will call registar tomorrow and ask to drop fall of 2010.
