hi...i will be enrolling in the University of Delaware honors program for my freshman year starting this fall. gtown was my first choice and still is...my father went there and I guess i'm considered a legacy. I have a 32 ACt score, near perfect high school gpa, 4s and 5s on ap, and I plan on getting a near perfect gpa my first semester at udel also. I have great extracurriculars...i work for a political party, have worked at a law firm, I'm a legislative intern, and have been a hospital volunteer...as well as a classical musician for over a decade. Great rec. letters from professors won't be a problem...does it sound like i'm in a good position to get in for transfer ? I know a kid a year older than me who transfered after freshman year from u. delaware honors into gtown. thanks for any input.

Yes, I think you are. Georgetown was my first choice out of HS and I was deferred, waitlisted and ultimately did not get in. I went to NYU for my freshman year and then applied to transfer. I got in, I also have legacy (my sister) and I had a GPA of 3.6 from NYU when I applied, in addition to a handful of extra-curriculars, but not an overwhelming number. Georgetown's transfer acceptance is pretty reasonable and as long as you get a GPA over 3.5 considering you are in the Honors program I'd be surprised if you didn't get in.

Thank you very much for that thorough reply. It looks like we are/were in similar positions...U.Del. I suppose is a good school by itself, but I know it is very important still to be in the Honors program. how long after you started freshman year did you apply? and when did you get your decision on transfer admission? also....what reasons did you give for wanting to transfer from your current institution of NYU..
thanks again,
Brad

Any other thoughts????
