I currently go to CSU Pomona and am doing really bad.
I dont think this is the school for me. If i want to transfer to a UC should I go to a community college first?

also would it be beneficial to take a year off to figure things out?

If you can afford it, I would suggest taking some time off to think about things. What makes you think that you wouldn’t do badly elsewhere? Try your best to identify the root cause of the problem before taking your next step; the problem may simply be your major.

What happens to the credits/units that I have accumulated at the CSU?
Also, do extra curriculars still matter for students wanting to transfer?

Both your CSU and CC credits would be considered; bear in mind that since you have credits from a 4-year institution, you are subject to the hard unit cap that CC-only students are not (google it). Extracurriculars aren’t really important unless you’re applying to UCB and UCLA, and even then they should never come before your GPA unless you manage to do something amazing such as cure cancer or write a popular book.

is there a way to check which units are considered transferable?
