how hard is transferring from penn state to cornell after first semester at penn state? i really want to go to cornell but i didnt get it!

...and this year i only applied to penn state and cornell

do you need all A's first semester? do they look at your high school transcript including senior year?

You can only transfer in after a minimum of 1 year at another institution. Your chances of being admitted depend on what college/major you apply to. CAS is competitive while CALS is competitive but not to the same extent as CAS.

If you apply to come in as a sophomore there will be some emphasis placed on your high school stats. If you apply to come in as a junior, they will look at your HS stats but not place as much emphasis on them.

if i come in as a junior / sophmore, does that mean the previous credits i obtained at penn state will not count anymore?

does cornell have any tests i can take to opt out of certain classes/credits? i hear some schools do have this.

You transfer in up to 60 credits. If you have more than this, your college registrar will give you credit for the classes that will help you fill major and college graduation requirements. However...your grades will NOT transfer.

You can take tests to place out of intro classes and into more advanced classes...I think these are only offered for language/chem/physics. But...if you come in as an upperclassman, I don't imagine these would help you too much.
