Transfering Majors From Within Engineering

Hey guys so I got into UIUC engineering through my alternate choice major(computer engineering) rather then the major i was most interested in computer science. Does anyone know how hard it is to transfer from one major to the other within the Engineering college? I know that it's very hard to get into engineering from DGS but is it just as difficult from within Engineering?

Easier when already in college but cannot do before end of first year and besides decent grades the key issue will be spaces available. In other words it depends to a great extent at any particular time of transfer on number that want to get into CS in relation to number who are leaving CS to do something else.

I know that one cannot predict the future and it may be that things change because my year for example has more people in CS then usual but if we were to use the past as a benchmark for how likely it is to transfer from COMPE to Comp Sci assuming one has decent grades what do you think my chances would be? That is assuming that Comp Sci doesn’t have an unusual amount of people staying or trying to go into the major would I have a good chance of transferring in if i had good grades for my first year? Thanks for the reply by the way I really want to go to Illinois but am terrified of being stuck in a major i may not particularly like.
