Well I'm really starting to think more and more about Cornell. I'm interested in the AEM section of the school but I know this is EXTREMELY competitive. I live in NY (does this help?) and want to know what college I should apply to that would give me the best chance of getting in. I definitely fit the best at AEM - I've interned at a private equity firm, take AP macro, have worked 4 years (my main EC), but I still don't think this is enough. I mean if I did get into the easiest school at Cornell in terms of acceptance rate, is there a possibility of transfering into AEM?

CALS admissions officers and AEM faculty are very aware of students who try use the “backdoor” to gain admission to AEM. If you apply, to say, the Plant Biology program, but all of your ECs are business related…chances are, they’ll assume you’re taking the backdoor to get in to AEM and you’ll probably be rejected (note: this is based on a true story) That being said, internal transfer to AEM is also quite competitive. Your best bet is to apply to CALS/AEM as your primary choice. Applying to what you consider the “easiest” school at Cornell with the intention of transferring to AEM is a very bad idea.
