Transfering previous college credit

I was thinking about possibly taking Chemistry over the summer at my local community college (so I can get a head start). I checked on GT's website to check accepted colleges and what credits transfer. My community college is listed and so is the class. This is what I saw:

CHML 1046
Class Title: Transfer Course
Level: US
GT Equivalent Class(es)
GT Class GT Class Title GT Credit Hours
CHEM 1310 General Chemistry 4

So, I assume that if I take that class and get a C or better, I do not have to take Chem 1310 at GT. However, I also saw this:

Courses with an associated lab will have credit awarded with the lab portion of the course, not the lecture. This is done to verify that both the lecture and the lab portions were completed.
* Example: if you took Physics I (General Physics) and Physics Lab I (General Physics Lab), all credits awarded would be associated with Physics Lab I, not Physics I.

So if I pass, I only get credit for the Lab? I would still have to take Chem 1310....? Can someone please explain this to me? Am I missing something? I do not want to waste my time taking the class if I will just have to take it again.

Some schools split their classes into Lecture (3 hours) and Lab (1 hour) courses. Some schools have them as one 4 hour course.

If GT offers a class as one 4 hour course (which Chem1310 is) and your CC offers the class as a 4 hour course (which I think CHML 1046 is in Florida), then there’s no problem. Credit for CHML 1046 = credit for Chem 1310.

If GT offers a class as one 4 hour course (which Chem1310 is) and your CC offers the class as two course (one lecture, one lab) then you need to complete both the lecture and lab to receive credit at GT. To ensure that you’ve completed both, GT only offers credit if the Lab is complete (since the Lab is always at the same time or after the lecture)
