Transfering to a better university

Hi all, I am about to start Freshmen year at a regionally accredited community college in Arizona and take online classes. After a semester or two at the CC, I will transfer over to Arizona State. After I complete my sophomore year at ASU, I would like to pursue admission to a better university, like one of the tough to get into UC schools. I understand that's a huge leap and would require a massive amount of effort. But speaking hypothetically here, if I were to achieve say, a 3.8 GPA over the first two years at CC and ASU, acquire a lot of quality resume fodder, and write a compelling admittance essay, could that make me a good candidate to get into one of those schools? Or would the fact that I went to CC for one or two semesters while taking online courses and then regular classes at regular ASU (non-honors college) not fly well at all with the admissions committee, even if I were to get spectacular grades? Please don't be rude with your answers, thanks everyone.
