Transfering to a top ranked university.

Hello all!

I am a freshman getting ready to begin by second semester at a small private college in Iowa. (St. Ambrose University) I have always wanted to transfer to a "great", "well-though of" dream school in an awesome location but I feared my HS stats would have handicapped that dream.

In my first semester, I am a Philosophy/English major with a 3.6 GPA and I made the Dean's List.

My HS stats were really poor, 2.8 GPA, 21 ACT, 7 AP credits (but I never took the tests)

I would like to transfer to the school I intend to graduate from for Fall 2011. If my GPA remains consistent, or better, what kind of schools can I realistically gain admission to? (Money isn't really a factor.)

I'm looking at:

University of Iowa (In-State)
CAL (the ones i could realistically get into like SD or SC)
UCONN
Boston University
Virginia Tech
Penn State
Michigan (Probably a HUGE reach)
Virginia (HUGE reach)
UNC (HUGE reach)

I'm not evaluating the schools on their pros and cons but their overall reputation. Any thoughts, or other suggestions? Thank you so much for your time.

If you continue this grade trend until fall 2011, you have a good chance of getting into any of the schools you listed for spring 2012. Once you have 30+ credits, colleges don’t care about your high school record. Some colleges however, still require SAT scores even after 4 semesters of college(out of your list, I believe only BU and Michigan)

Keep up the good work.
