Transfering to Amherst question

I was a dual enrollment student with an AA degree completed entirely while dual enrolled and would like to apply to Amherst. Unfortunately, their policy is -

If you have taken International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement or college courses during secondary school, we view this as significant evidence of your academic accomplishment and preparation. In addition, some Amherst departments will allow you to forego introductory-level courses in areas in which you have already completed rigorous work. However, we do not accept such courses for credit or advanced standing.

Does this mean I have no chance? I emailed their admissions office to clarify this, but the auto repy makes it seem as if they don’t answer any questions about admissions (they just refer you to the website)
Thanks!

Pick up the telephone and call them.

Why is it that some people will use their cell phones for social reasons 24/7 but when it comes to requiring a dialogue on a complicated question they resort to e-mail which is probably screened by some flunky and may or may not eventually get to the right person? At least when you're talking to someone on the phone you can tell whether or not they understand your issue and are in position to give authoritative advice and, if not, you can ask to be transferred to someone higher up the food chain.
