Transfering to Berkeley, not so hard...

so, 20 days after finding out im going to cal i realize it wasnt so tough. excitment's over, reality has set in, been talking to my peers... seems like everyone is going.

for those about to start community college with a clean slate and have the desire to go, i gurantee you will get in..

goodluck and see you at cal.

You must attend a feeder school.

huuuge blanket statement........depends on major......

Berkeley sucks!!

ugly girls with chest hair everywhere

not to mention moustaches

dude, why aren't the berkeley girls hot

they are supposed to be smart, right?

if they were smarter, they would realize guys like hot babes.

LOL
its prolly harder for business major eh?
T__T

Of course it doesn't seem that tough now. I started feeling the same way, but remember: 72% of the people who applied didn't get in. A lot of my peers got in as well, but they're all really smart; smarter than me, probably. Also, it seemed like the success rate for people on this board was like 90%, which is pretty incredible. Almost every non-business major got in.

This is why people always say, "Oh, my stats were only blah blah blah, and I got in no problem." Surely, they weren't there to witness their application being reviewed; it just seems a lot easier once you've done it.

yeah, my friend who goes to DVC, says he has a lot of friends who got into berkeley with 3.0-3.4s......i was surprised bc cc had me under the impression that it takes at least a 3.6 or something....but he says he knows a girl who got into poly sci with a 3.2

It is "political science," not "polytical science," and thus "poli sci."

poly sci (suck my thumb)

DVC is a feeder college.

I wouldn't think that whether or not a school is a "feeder college" would make a difference.

berkeley suks!!

im at DVC.. yes, it transfers a lot to berkeley. blanket statement? maybe, but i know 5-6 EECS, several bio majors, bout 10 haas, ton of econs, poli scis .. berkeley sucks becuase girls have hairy chests? u have to see what u want in a school, academics or a party, check out UCSB. the truth is.. cals a huge school and u only need to find 2-3 diamonds in the rough for a good time.

point well taken, CC2UC. 2-3 works for me, AT A TIME!

"I wouldn't think that whether or not a school is a "feeder college" would make a difference."

A feeder college literally means it sends a lot of students to Cal. It's set up for that, and blatantly, a lot of students from DVC going to Cal means nothing; that's expected and has happened for many years.

I concur with others when they say "depends on major." Some majors aren't as impacted as others so it's easier to get in. Statistics for Haas speaks for it self, 85/1200 get in.

the berkeley dean of undergraduate admissions, speaking at the vista college graduation last week, (vista is a cc in berkeley) said that vista had a 46% overal l transfer acceptence rate, as opposed to 28% statewide.

it only makes sense for DVC to send a lot of students. its obvious, since its such a huge school. obviously they send the highest number of students bc of the school's size, but that doesn't mean that in proporation to other CCs, they're much better. i think dvc being an amazing/special cc is probably a myth shrug i guess i'll find out next year.
