nevermind the question on how common it is because after alot of searching I found out that only LSA students get to apply. Is transfering to Ross in LSA very difficult?

It isn't "very difficult" but it is by no means a sure thing. Only good students apply and of those, only 50% get in. Maintaining a 3.5+ GPA is highly recommended (particularly in Econ and mathematics) and you must articulate your reasons for wanting to major in Business in a lucid manner.

are you sure it's only 50%? i'm pretty sure it's a lot more selective...
i don't know.. maybe i'm wrong.

but what i do know is that all the applicants are highly qualified. a lot of people i know didn't do so well freshman year and didn't even bother applying to ross.

Forgiven, 50% is very selective. The mean GPA of those students while at Michigan is 3.6. That's pretty high. As Goblue says, it is pretty selfselective. Very few students with sub 3.3 GPAs even bother applying.

You have to apply to Ross almost as if you're applying to college. There's an application that due by the end of Feb/March (I can't remember which, I think March). You have to write a couple of essays emphasizing your interest in business. About 700 kids apply and 320 or so are accepted...varies year to year, of course.

so if you wanna try to get into Ross you dont have to right the business essay during highschool year? but what happens to the people who want to major something in business but didnt get accepted? Do they transfer to different shcools?

no you still have to write the essay when you're applying as a HS senior (if you want to be considered for Ross PA). if you want to do business but arent accepted you can apply after your freshman year. if you still dont get in some people probably switch majors to economics or something of the sort. some might transfer. then you go for an MBA.

Most people who don't get into the bschool switch to either economics or actuary mathematics, it is uncommon to transfer schools for the most part...especially since most other bschools are 4yr programs and require some business prereqs to transfer.

The application is just like a college app. 3 essays, and an optional one.

And yes, i know a few engineering students who are now in the bschool. Its just not as common.
