Transfering to Cornell: CMU or Bing?

My current 2 top choices are CMU and Bing. I want to transfer to Cornell (A/S) later on. Which school will make it easier for me? I know Bing is easier on the workload, which makes it easier to get good grades, but CMU has the reputation, so I don't know...

On an unrelated note, should I go to CMU at all? They gave me ~$12k in grants and ~11k in loans and work-study. That's out of an attendence cost of ~43k. I want to go in medicine, and I have business as a backup if medicine becomes unbearable.

if you are intend on transferring, save your money and go to bing. I personally know of one person who transferred from binghamton to cornell.

Go to Binghamton because it's my home town and it rawks. :)

yeah go to Binghamton, it's a good school! I'm from Endicott :)

Wow, small world! Where do you go to school now?

UEHS... I'm a junior this year ;) are you still at BHS?

Nope, my alma mater. I'm at Hofstra University now, transfering up to CU in the fall. I had a couple of friends at UE though, back in the day...like, year ago. :)

Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.

[Edit] I heard that you can transfer to Cornell after freshman year in som eother school. How does Cornell evaluate your transfer application? I know they look at your freshman grades, but which high school grades do they also look at? Also, how important are extracurrics in the application (as important as in freshman admissions?)?

Binghamton is one of the best, if not THE best SUNY school. You can't go wrong. As long as you're comfortable, that's what matters in the long run.

If you choose CMU, you'd be well advised to stay there. It's a terrific school in it's own right. If you're set on transferring and money is a problem, Binghampton seems best. Good luck to you.

mmm, I think you should choose binghamton just cause it sounds cool. :) Haha, Fishs is an awesome screen name. Don't ask me why I think so though. :P

Bing...tons of Binghamton people transfer to Cornell after their freshman year. You should save money and take all the premed courses at Bing before you come to Cornell. Trust me, courses are much easier at Bing than they are at Cornell.

this is true, I know 2 people who transferred from Binghamton to Cornell within the past 3 years.

I'm going to parrot myself because everyone seems hot on Bing. Don't overlook Carnegie Mellon. It's one of the best schools in the country, I just wouldn't use it as a springboard to Cornell. It is a very comparable.

intoxicatednight: Is it? Well, thanks. Fish was already taken, so I pluralized and dropped the e for some reason.
