Hello y'all. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge about how difficult it is for students to transfer into the Jackson School of Geosciences. The school's website seems to indicate that they do not take many transfer students.

I have a younger family member with over 30 completed credits and a 4.0 GPA at Austin Community College who would like to external transfer into the Jackson School.

My questions are:

(A) Is transfering into the Jackson School feasible or really just a pipe dream?

(B) If possible, would a 4.0 GPA and a couple of decent essays be enough to gain admittance, or are a ton of ECs really needed to give the candidate a decent chance?

(C) Would an internal transfer be any easier?

A. I think it is very much feasible, especially with a 4.0 GPA

B. I think the GPA alone is enough to get him into the school, UT really just cares about numbers

C. I'm sure it would, but (Correct me if I'm wrong) I believe that the school of Geosciences is pretty much one of the easiest to get into at the University.

I believe that the Geosciences school is probably the hardest to get accepted to, given that it only has less than 300 undergraduate students, and while I am not concerned about my relative's ability to be accepted to UT, I am worried that she may not be able to get into the Jackson School.

Well, we will be talking to admissions tomorrow. I guess we'll find out then...

Please do not listen to Esc, he/she is completely wrong. It is very easy to get into Jackson school, and is probably guaranteed with a 4.0. The reason they have such a small number of undergraduates, is lack of interest in geology and similar fields of study.

Did you find out if she got in? Im currently a freshman -> sophomore and I’m looking to internal transfer into jackson school. i got a 3.0 for first year, but ive been taking easy classes i would say
