So I applied ED to NYU and was rejected. Then I took a look at the transfering information on the NYU website. Apparently the transfer acceptance rate is only 10-15%. That seems unnaturally low to me - is it normally this low everywhere else? Does this basically mean that if you try to transfer in to NYU after a year somewhere else, you're really not gonna make it?

hmm not sure what the transfer acceptance rate is but I attended CUNY Baruch for a 3 semester (transferred mid soph year) and I got accepted and am expected to matriculate in january.

my stats weren't that great either.

Gallatin.

3.35 gpa
1320/1600 1850/2400
excellent teacher recommendation
very good essay

avg amount of volunteer and extra curricular work and work experience

i suppose my essay and teacher rec did it for me, maybe my past job experience as a security guard, not sure. either way its doable, there's hope.

Thank you! You really did give me hope!

I have almost exactly the same GPA and I got a 2020 on the SATs, so this means it's really doable!

Thanks for making me feel so much better!

I have a feeling that transfers without a need for financial aid (beyond Pell grants/perkins and stafford loans) may be more attractive as transfer applicants.

in 1987 my brother transferred to NYU from Temple. He spent about 5-6 semesters there (including at least one summer) and got his degree from NYU. My parents paid for the entire thing.

I'm wondering if cprt123 can tell us if they got any scholarship $$ from NYU
