Transfering to Santa Clara U - Question

I applied to transfer to SCU from my current university, UC Santa Cruz. I want to make the switch because I am seeking a minor UCSC does not offer and SCU has a better program for my major, among many other things.

My biggest question is: They say they will notify students BY June 1 of their decision, but according to collegeboard they have rolling admissions for transfers. Can I expect to hear back from them before June 1? I have been in contact with the head of undergrad admissions and she has confirmed for me that my "application is complete and ready for review by the committee." Anybody here have experience with them and know if they send out transfer decisions as they make them?

TIA! :)

bump.

any insight appreciated.

also…because I’m going crazy. What do you think of my chances getting in? I currently have a 4.0 taking a full load of classes. I had an average GPA of 3.3 in high school, a fair amount of extracurriculars, strong recommendations and a very specific focus. I am majoring in Sociology with a minor in Religious Studies. I’ve completed all but one of their core courses they’d like to see. I already asked them about the one I’m missing, and they said it’d be fine, wouldn’t hurt me that much.

What do you think?

Well, a few years ago, when my S applied for transfer, he heard well before June 1… on a rolling basis. But I don’t remember exactly when he heard.

Can’t speak to your chances, although your profile is certainly strong.

Are you male or female?

Thank you for replying. I’m glad to hear he heard earlier! I am female.

transfer deadline is may1

That I know…as stated above, I’ve completed my application and received confirmation from SCU that it’s been received and is being reviewed by the committee. I was just wondering if anyone had heard earlier than the June 1 notification date, since technically they have rolling admissions. I don’t know that I can make it to June 1 - the suspense is killing me!!
:)

Hey, Tobi, how did you receive a confirmation that they received all of your materials? Did you call them? I submitted everything for my SCU app a month ago, but have not heard anything. I planned to call on Friday to double check if they received everything since I am getting super paranoid (only because USC just sent me a letter telling me that they didn’t receive any of my transcripts… and I submitted it all 4 months ago). Your profile seems excellent and strong, I’m sure you will get in! =) Best of luck and thanks in advance!

Hey Lovefury,
I originally received an email from them the first week of March, notifying me they had received my application materials and were only missing my transcripts. I explained to them that I had ordered them and they would be sent after my winter quarter grades were posted, which they said was fine. About a week after I received notification from UCSC that my transcripts had been sent, I emailed the same woman I had been in contact with, (the senior processor of undergraduate admissions), to follow up and make sure they had been received. She wrote back that they had been received and said my “application was now complete and ready for the committee to make a decision.”

I have a friend who also applied to SCU and she didn’t get any communication from them either, but it never hurts to follow up. They are very helpful, so I’m sure they could tell you what’s going on.

Thanks! Best of luck to you too. :)
