Transfering to SBU Concerns and Questions

Hi.
When I had applied to SBU during my Senior year in high school, i was applying with a 79.9average with a 600 MATH, 580 READING, 590 WRITING. Member of Key Club 1 year, member of Model UN 2 years. I was rejected a few months later.

I would like to transfer from my current college but I dont know enough to do so. Starting in september it will be my first year in college.

Should i apply for SBU for the Spring term?
I'm told that if I do try to transfer for the Spring term they'll be looking at my high school #s again, is that true?
Will I have a chance with the same numbers?
In your opinion do you think I should do it?
Should i apply for transfer at the end of my spring term, seeking admission for Fall 2008?

Thank you for your time.

There are two categories of transfer student... either you've completed 24 college credits, or you haven't. If you've completed 24 college credits, then we no longer look at your high school coursework; all we look at is your college grades. As long as your college GPA is in the 3.0 range after 24 credits, you should be admissible.

If you haven't completed 24 credits when you're applying, then yes, we will still look at your high school coursework. One semester, or a handful of classes, isn't enough to override a low high school GPA. If you won't complete a full year of courses until this spring, then Fall 2008 might be the best bet for you.
