Transfering to The Ohio State University

Hello,

I am currently a freshman at Central Michigan University and I would like to try and transfer to Ohio State. I am in my first semester at Central Michigan but I have always wanted to go to Ohio State. I was denied my senior year of high school and wanted to try again. I am hoping to have a 3.3-3.5 gpa at the end of the semester. I will have less than 30 credits on my application which really concerns me. I had 3.3 gpa after a not great end to my senior year and a 21 on the ACT. What are my chances of getting into OSU Columbus with those circumstances. My parents do not want me to go to Ohio State because of tuition and distance from home. If I have to pay for all my tuition so that I can go to my dream school then I will. How would you address parents who don't want me to go to OSU? I want to go to OSU more than anything.

I went to a pretty competitive high school if that helps at all....

Thank you very much for you comments!

I figure for transfers they will care more about your college grades. To be honest, I don’t see how you were even denied in your senior year. OSU is a slightly higher ranked institution, though, so I would try to pull that 3.5 and just apply. If you get denied, You can just try again the next semester. I would be shocked if you got denied, though.

As for your parents, mine are the same way. I haven’t got the courage to actually get in their face, but if you’re 18, you are a legal adult so you could always pull that card? Or you could talk about how OSU is a more respectable university and that it will open more doors for you in the future. Talk about your future and opportunities and more money, and your parents should cave. Use the legal adult thing if they don’t see your reasoning.
