transfering to ucr question

right now i am attending a cc and i will be done with all my transfer requirements by the end of spring next year. i never understood how the process of transfering works and the time to apply for transfer. so i was wondering if it is too late to transfer into ucr after my spring semester of 2010.

applications open for fall 2010 in october and are due by end of november so not too late good luck

Yep, you’re just in time! You can submit applications to UCR (or any UC) starting on 11/1 and ending on 11/30. Have you finished your IGETC (general education) and major prerequisite requirements? If not, are you on your way to finishing by Spring of 2010?

sorry for the late reply. yeah, i will be done with my igetc and major prereq by the end of spring 2010. it is great to hear that i am right on time but i am still confused in one thing. am i suppose to apply for transfer this following october or the october of 2010 even though i have not completed my igetc and major prereq atm.

If you’re applying for Fall 2010, then you’ll need to apply for transfer this year. The application opens in October, but you won’t be able to submit it until November 1st. The deadline is November 30th. It’s okay if your Igetc and Major Prereqs are not completed yet. As long as you finish everything by Spring 2010, you’ll be just fine. :)

ohhh, that clears up most of my confusion. what if let say i apply for fall 2010 this coming november but i wont be done with my igetc and major prereq until after the summer of 2010. would that situation get me into some problems?

I believe so. My friend was in a similar situation. She was applying to UCLA for Fall of 2009, but had two courses left for IGETC that she wouldn’t finish until after the Summer of 2009. She was not accepted to UCLA. However, she was accepted to UCB. So I’m not too sure about the exact details.

i guess i gotta talk to my counselor about that. but hey, thanks a lot for your replies, i really appreciate it.

Yes, I would check with your counselor just to be sure. Most people I’ve talked to recommend finishing all IGETC and major prerequisite courses by the Spring prior to transfer, but I recommend asking your counselor to get a ‘for-sure’ answer.
