Transfering to UIUC. Help

Hello.

I'm applying to transfer to UIUC in the Spring of 2006. My major is Electrical Engineering.

I wonder if there are any vacant space in the school of Electrical Engineering?

Secondly, what is the minimum number of credit hours I need in order to transfer? On the website, sometimes they say "60 hours", but sometimes they say "30", so I'm confused.

Thank you very much.

engineering is open if you have 60 or more hours.

transferring to uiuc is very competitive, especially for spring. i went through the process and was accepted as a transfer sophomore into a closed program. however, engineering is extremely strict at u of i, and if you have less than 60 hours, i would say they arent going to accept any petitions for lower division enrollment. it wouldnt hurt to call and ask, though.

what year are you right now and where do you go to school? is it necessary to transfer for spring?

I'm at UIC now. (university of Illinois at Chicago).

So it's like a sister school. But UIUC has much better engineering program.

Generally, you need 60 hours of transferable credit (which if UIC should include any courses you took for grade), you need to meet a GPA requirement both overall and in engineering related courses (like math, science) and the GPA varies among the engineering majors, and you need to complete many of the first and second year courses that apply to your program. Meet all the requirements for transfer and you will have a decent chance for the transfer as the enginneering college generally operates on having a lot of chairs open for junior transfers; note as to transfers that Illinois residents get preference over non-residents which is not true for freshman admission.
