Transfering to UT Austin

I'm planning on transfering to UT-Austin after 1 semester of college. By the end of this year, I would have around 7-8 ap credits which give me almost 30 credit hours at the college I'm going to attend. I'm already planning on taking 2 classes this summer and about 4 this fall.

I'm wondering about how the AP credit policy works out. If I get the credit from the college I'm attending, does UT automatically give me the credit if they accept me as a transfer? Or does it still depend on the score?

if your college as already accepted the Ap credit and put it on your transcript as accredited college hours then UT would then simply evaluate the courses the Ap credit replaces for transfer credit. If UT wont allow you to transfer the courses then you would send your Ap scores to them to be evaluated for credit at UT.

Does it matter about the score?

if your just transferring the classes from your college that has already accepted the Ap scores then no i dont think so. If your sending the scores to Austin directly then yes they do matter. UT has its own Ap score requirements such as for example they will only accept 3 or higher for english credit.

Yeah I couldn’t find it on the transfer website.
Also, what is the average gpa of COLA transfers?

I plan on getting around a 3.8-4.0 first semester

Thanks for your help

The Gpa for COLA transfer form what ive read in the forums varies a bit since theres so many majors but usually 3.5+ stands a good chance depending on the major

For Government/Econ?

3.5+ good chance 3.6 most likely 3.7 very likely 3.8 etc your a lock, based on of course your essays and transferrable course work being all sound applies to UT curriculum.

Does the high school transcript matter in the admission process?

Also, when they look at ur transcript, what do they mean by they are checking for ur correct placing?

no the high school transcript has very minimal weight & by checking for correct placement i would assume they checking how ready you are for calculus I based on the courses you have taken.
