I'm currently at W&M and thinking about applying to UVA as a transfer.

My GPA here at W&M is around a 3.7, and my HS GPA was 4.0.

Do I have a good shot of making it in?

On another note, how is the premed program there compared to W&M's? (PS - A question to those currently enrolled/anyone that knows, does UVA offer both Organic Chem I and Gen chem II during the fall semester?

I think you have a good chance especially coming from W&M and probably being instate.

I think what it might come down to is if your personal statement is good enough or not and ECs that you do.

The PreMed program is pretty good. We just got a new PreMed Advisor who has years of experience at various colleges so that’s good. Also, there’s the UVa Hospital that should provides numerous opportunities to get in touch with the medical field. I do have to warn you that there’s much competition, but I think you’ll do fine.

i feel like first year is more about hookups and some people continue that but some form longer-lasting relationships in subsequent years… greek life can be big if you want it to be but doesn’t have to be… it makes itself known around grounds/ seems to always be around but if it’s not your thing there’s plenty to do. in terms of dorms it really varies on an individual basis… some people have a lot of drama; some people form really close, long-lasting friendships; some people just keep to themselves.

some people are really cut throat but that is ridiculous to do… Many people help each other out a surprising amount. :)
