Hi
I'm a freshmen at NYU-Stern and I really don't like it here. I'm not adjusting well to the city life and don't really like the people.
So I want to go back to St. Louis where I grew up and know I will feel comfortable.

But my problem is that I would be transfering from Stern to Olin...

I got a 3.75 GPA at stern with a wide range of classes (science, writing, calc, history)

Would the fact that I'm transfering from a better business school to a lower business school help me get in?

and is it worth the trade off to give up stern for Olin?

I transferred to WashU (though to Artsci), so I’d be happy to answer any of your general questions. As to your odds, my friend is starting at Olin this spring (4th semester), having gotten in from Weatherhead. That is a worse school, and his GPA was weaker, yet he still got in. Your GPA is fine, and so long as all else is in order, you have a good shot of getting in, even with only one semester of actual grades.

Regarding how worthwhile the transfer is, that is something only you can answer. What I will say is that the study body here is generally very happy with the school, which is important when making a multi-year commitment. And really, even if Olin is less well known than Stern, it is still a top 20 business school, so you won’t exactly be hurt by the move.
