im planning to apply for fall 09transfer and i hope to make 4.0 gpa again but this time i have taken some tough classes like Micro-economic, Macro-economics and Calculus I (i.e.20 credits)

i m looking to transfer to some colleges with good accounting or economics program. i am currently looking into Univ of Texas at Austinm, BYU, Texas AnM, Claremont McKenna, Amhrest, Northern Illinois Univ, Colgate, Middlebury, Grinnel or even Trinity college.

i think i am really going for some (or all) high reach colleges!! what do u guys suggest!!???

i would be grateful to all who would provide me some suggestions.

University of Texas does not consider SAT scores for transfer admissions. Which school will you be applying for? I’d say you’re in, for sure, with a 4.0 – unless you’re applying to McCombs, which will be tough. Ditto on Texas A&M. Both schools only care about college work and essays. Don’t even bother sending the SAT to them.

For the other schools, do you have a good TOEFL score that you can submit in addition to the SAT? I imagine it’s the CR/Writing that’s pulling your scores down.

Also, I wouldn’t bother with either Amherst or Middlebury. Both have acceptance rates in the single digits (~6%).

You are right escapist CR pulled my scored “way-down” than i thought. I think i have a good TOEFL score i.e. 102/120 (iBT). i hope that does shows that i do know “ENGLISH!!!”

How about other liberal arts colleges that i have stated above???

In general unless you have very strong hs stats, it is easier to get in applying for junior standing then applying to be a first semester sophmore year with only one semester of grades…

i will be applying after completing my second semester…so i will have 36 credits. i think that will be competitive enough and as i already have 4 GPA in first sem, i hope to continue the same in coming sem too. so 4.0 gpa with 36credits wont that be competitive enough to get into some good college???

yes, i think you will be competitive to lots of good schools regardless

however, remember if you are applying to be a first semester sophmore or for the fall '09 semester, you will be submitting your application in the next three months or so without that semesters grades…so you will only have one semesters worth of completed courses to show said school…or did i misunderstand your last statement and did you already know this?

ur right dufflebagjesus that the colleges will be able to see only my first sem grade. thats kinda worry for me bcoz my SAT is very low…

hey can i submit my midterm grade along the course syllabus??? so that it may help them to decide the rigorous courses that im taking . i dont know if that will work. what do you suggest??

or so should i wait to transfer for junior year?? but i think it will be “very” hard to get in good colleges as junior as retention rates will be very high!!

the school may very well have made your decision by the time you receive your midterm grades…if you are right on the border of being accepted, the school will often times ask for your midterm grades…but otherwise i dont know if you could really send them in time for them to be evaluated with the rest of your app…so long as you can apply for xfer twice to the school that you mentioned (really make sure of this, you dont want to be punished for an avoidable error) no harm in applying this semester and then next year…

i honestly think youll have a shot at all of the schools you mentioned this year even without midterm grades
