Just out of curiousity, how hard is it to transfer to the business school from liberal arts and sciences? Do you have to wait a full year or more/less? Is there a GPA cutoff that you have to have in order to do that? Seeing as i'm not even in college yet, I hate that i'm supposed to already have chosen what type of career i want.

I have the same question but liberal arts/sciences to architecture. Is it signifcantly easier to get into the arts/sciences than architecture?... and is there a specific GPA cutoff to transfer into architecture after 1 year or so?

If you start out as an LAS major, you can only apply to transfer into business at the end of your second year. The GPA cutoff is around 3.2.

business school accepted students had an average of 3.3 last year. Technically they say the cutoff is "3.0-4.0".

I thought that as long as you have the 60 hr. min. and taken the required transfer courses, you can transfer?? can you transfer in mid semester?? like at the end of your 1st semester sophomore year?

On their website they say there is no GPA cutoff for inter-college transfer. But if you want to get in I would make sure you keep it above 3.0 and above 3.3 to be safe.

Other than that, you must have 60 credits by the end of the semester in which you are applying. Preference is given to applicants with less than 90 credits. There is also a list of classes you need to have completed.

For 2006-2007 there are only two application periods. One for the fall, one for the spring. You apply mid-semester for both. I would bet that pattern will continue to be repeated in years to come as well.

As with most questions concerning admissions and requirements, nearly anything you could ever want to know is burried somewhere in the UIUC pages.

This is probably best for you: http://www.business.uiuc.edu/undrgrad/Prospective/ICT.htm

Business is the hardest college to transfer into. Even if you have decent GPA (like 3.3) and have completed the required hours (60) and required courses, you can still be rejected. It considers essays and EC's (including any work experience) to be very important unlike most of the other colleges. As the college states on its sight: "If you are considering the College of Business at Illinois, we strongly encourage you to apply as a high school student. While it is possible to transfer to the College of Business from another institution or from another college on campus, admission is extremely competitive." It usual transfer acceptance rate for those already at UIUC is less than 50%.

hmmm... less than 50%... a lot bettern than say 30 or 25% at least.
Do you think it's easier to transfer at the end of your school year or the end of 1st semester transfer dates?
