transfering

hey:
so i need some advice. i'm a freshmen at nyu in gallatin. going to nyu was a big decision for my family (my sister has a full ride at our state school), and my family has made significant sacrifices to help pay for my schooling. Both my parents are divorced and both rent out rooms in their house, my mom has a second job waitressing on the weekends. i also have two jobs here. as much as i like nyu, i'm not sure if it's worth being here. i have plenty of friends, classes are okay, but i'm not in love with the school. i'm questioning my decision to go to school in the city; i miss the feeling of a community and nature. a large part of me feels like i've jumped from highschool to living on my own in my 20s. i knew coming in that nyu obviously doesn't have a campus, however i assumed that there would be more of a community.
i'm pretty sure i want i want to transfer. i think it makes the most sense to go to community college next year (saving both me and my parents about $18,000), and apply to less expensive schools where i could get more money. does this make sense? will going to community college next semester hurt my chances of getting into a good school next year?
thanks!

Not if your grades are good and your reasons are well articulated on your applications.

I think that if you want a better finaid offer, then you should definately transfer because as some people say undergrad doesnt really matter (although i dont necessarily agree with that) but its up to the person.
