hi, i just posted this on the transfer board, but decided to post it on the wes board too.

wesleyan?
hi, i am a frosh at uconn and thinking about transfering to wes. nothing is certain yet of course, but the more i think about wes the more i wish i had chosen to go there. i was waitlisted last year, but was also waitlisted at 2 other schools i wanted to go to more so didn't pursue it. i did pretty well in hs, i had a A- gpa, and had a lot of activities, was a big student leader. i was also in a lot of activisty orgs like greenpeace and amnesty. my sat's were around 2100 (honestly, i feel i'm the only person on here who doesn't have them memorized) and my bio, us hist, eng lit, and writing sat 2s were all 740s and above.

my main reasons of wanting to transfer are because uconn doesn't seem like the right fit for me. i feel a lot more passionate than a lot of these kids and want a school that doesn't have such a drinking culture and obsession with sports. i'm in the honors program here too, and i feel that even my honors classes aren't challenging, i did harder work in high school.

my college grades will probably be B+ to A, because I am not having any serious problems. i was cum laude in my hs, am a certified EMT, and basically am a very genuine, interested person in life; something which i feel sets me apart from a lot of the other uconn students.

anyway, the two things i'm worried about are

a. recs, because i don't know a lot of my teachers super well because they are big classes and

b. getting in! i don't know if i can deal with all this college app drama again if i don't get in.

to make matters more complicated, i am also still waitlisted for a uconn program that will give me contigent admission into med school, and the woman keeps telling my mom to "keep her fingers crossed". if i don't get into that, then i will definitely want to transfer, and i feel that i have a much better knowledge now of what i want so i would only apply to 3-5 schools.

anyway is there any advice anyone here could give me? how likely it is to get in, or just advice in general about the transferring process?

thanks a lot!
