Transfering

I got accepted into SUNY Geneseo, mostly for bball. I only have a 3.3 GPA with 1 AP and 6 Honor classes.

My other schools i applied to were
UMiami
USan Diego
Pepperdine
USan Fran - accepted
Rollins College - accepted
Northeastern
NYU
Fordham
Loyola

Would it be smart to just go to Geneseo?

Is it the best academically, if I want to go to med school?

If I went to Geneseo for a year how hard would it be to transfer into a school like standford, usc, ucla, berkley?

im a white male and i wont be applying for financial aid anywhere my dad has saved enough to pay tuition in full.

For your question about Med school, go to the Pre-Med Topics subforum, there’s a sticky thread about how to pick an UG college. Also do a Search on that forum for ‘transfer’ and you will find several threads that discuss the pros and cons of transferring to Med school admissions.

Also remember that one of the most important stats for Med school is gpa, so you’ll want to think about where you’ll be the happiest and where you’ll be able to get as close to a 4.0 as possible.

For most selective colleges, it is more difficult to transfer after 1 year in college than it is to get admitted as a fr. This is because transfer rates are generally lower for transfers and because as a soph transfer, you will still mainly be assessed on your HS record and test scores. How being a recruited athlete plays in I don’t know.

Your dad have 200+k for UG and more than that again for Med school, lucky you!
