Transferitis

I have to admit I’ve been suffering from transferitis recently. I catch myself daydreaming about what I’d be doing at UCSD in great detail. I try not to let it affect my classes too much, but lately I’ve been starting to wonder if calculus and ochem are really supposed to take this much time to study for, or am I slowing down significantly…

I’m with you on that one

Applying to Cal for Haas and worked my ass off the last 2 years (20+ units). Now only taking 17 units including Calculus 1 and Physics and i can honestly say, i am no where near the level i was last year.

Not even close.

I’m absolutely dying of transferitis. I have been since the semester started! Almost all of my classes are super easy, but I’m still falling behind because I’m so unmotivated to work. On the bright side, tomorrow is the 29th, which means there’s only one more month until Berkeley decisions :)

Mid-term tonight.

To motivate myself I’ve been watching Cornell’s 2010 graduation montage and a Cal video. Today I think I’ll see what YouTube has for UCLA admissions/graduation.

Somehow, a low B on my Geology midterm shook some sense in me. I’m more focused and now and could still pull off an A in the course. Keep fighting the transferitis, guys!

I really felt like I had transferitis and was slacking off pretty bad but somehow I am managing good grades. A 94% on my first Bio test and an 88% on my lab practical. However, I did get a 76% on a test in Great Religions, but considering 80% of the class got an F, not too bad. Easily redeemed. Now I just have an essay midterm due on Thursday that I need to actually start…
Ahhh is it June yet?

German is killing me. I got an A on the first test, and a C+ on the second. Foreign languages are hard :(. I’m actually trying, I’m just scared if I end up with a C, don’t want my acceptances to be revoked.

^You got this ish SCFan. Just spend more time on it man.

Had a philosophy mid-term tonight and I think I got an A but not a perfect score so I’m annoyed as hell. Psychology mid-term tomorrow and a research paper due on Thursday and I can chill a little bit on the weekend. Last semester I would have been done with one week to spare lol.

I hate Spanish. I hate the stupid foreign language requirement. ARGHHHHHH

I don’t really know what’s happening this quarter. I expected myself to fall apart with transfer-stress. But now, I’m kind of over it. I’m looking forward to the summer, and having more free time. Although, somehow, I have plenty of free time now. Taking Bio II, Chem II, Calc, Java Programming, Voice Fundamentals. And some biotechnology/bioinformatics course at the very end of the semester. I dropped my second math course, and I have more time than I know what to do with. It’s kind of awesome.

Okay seriously once youre in at your dream school, you’ll be so motivated. I literally just got accepted to UCI and I am so motivated to crank out all of my assignments and get As, especially since I haven’t found out my conditions of acceptance yet.

@eyethink Yeah, this is a crazy week for me, too. Have my History midterm tomorrow, but no need to even study for it. Thurs is the German midterm, and thats my focus. I think things are beginning to click, at least with the last few chapters and bits of grammar. I just wish I enjoyed it. I loved my psych classes, philo, my poli sci, everything up til this semester, even Statistics. I’ve already taken a Hist course, so this ones just for units and an easy A. Physics w/ lab is better than I expected, too, but something I need to be wary of. Not meeting whatever my conditional acceptance requirements are would totally destroy me, esp. if I end up getting into Cal or LA.

@aninstance I feel you, although at this point I wish I had taken Spanish instead of German. Actually, I have 2 years covered from back in high school, so I didn’t even need to take it for IGETC, I just thought it would be interesting, and easier to learn since German is so similar to English. Well, I was wrong :). And even though HS was 8 years ago for me, I still remember a lot of the Spanish, so that would have helped. But remember, flash cards are your friend. They are whats going to carry me through the rest of the semester.

At least I have Spring break next week, be able to relax for a minute.

Major transferitis here.

I havent gotten a B in like a year, but that might change this semester. I am taking two easy classes (ASL and writing) but I didnt do so hot on one of the midterms for ASL (low B), and my writing class is frustrating because I have no time with work! I keep getting B+'s on all my papers…luckily I got a solid A on the main research paper…but only a B+ on my presentation.

Anyways as long as I get into one of my top three schools (UCSD,UCI,UCD) I will be perfectly fine with a B or two.

@Natjan

what were the conditions of your acceptance?

Did they give you a specific GPA to keep or just tell you to maintain your GPA?

@santacruzstefan LOL German definitely seems challenging! Ugh I’m taking Spanish for my English major, and since I didn’t take it in high school, I’m stuck in a class full of kids who already know everything, which sucks. I totally need flashcards. I’m so lazy though, it’s sad.

@lbc123 Dude, one B? Come on :p

P.S. C’s are totally off limits? Wait… my Spanish class is five units BOO :(

I have a test on Friday, but I’m only about 1/3 through the material I need to cover (1/2 of the sections) by then, and I have other stuff to do that usually takes most of my time. As if it wasn’t helping things, my bros are being total morons and making it hard to get stuff done. Grr. Grr! lol.

@wwlink At least you’re still trying to study! Spring/Summer turns me into a romantic, and all I want to do is be outside sniffing flowers, or whatever. Also, I am now in the process of reading all of the material on this site:

Psychology exam done. Only two things left due this week.

Got through this week, but barely. I was typing up an assignment the day of class after putzin’ around the web. Still I somehow managed to finish and make it to class with one minute to spare. My first four semesters at CC I had things done as far out as a week before the due date. lol. I gotta use this weekend and get ahead again, I hate the feeling of being rushed.

How is everyone else doing?

@santacruzfan

How was your German mid-term?

^Well, I’ll find out after Spring Break, but I think I dominated. I did this extra credit stuff my prof posted online, and talked to her before the test. We talked about how I was hoping to get into Cal for the fall, and she said she had been accepted for their PhD program, but couldn’t do it until she retired in a few years. Basically, I think she and I have come to an understanding, and the way she grades is pretty… holistic. She knows I want to learn German, and need to get a good grade. If I do my part and show effort, I think I’m good to go.

How about your midterms?
