Transferred into a UC but dropping out... what can I do after?

Hey everyone, just needing advice on something. I just transferred out to a California UC this past school year so this is my third quarter here (currently on the 4th week). Things have gotten a little out of control (personally) which has resulted in my decision to withdrawal from the university. The university allows us to take a gap quarter or more off if we would like to come back to the university but I was wondering what would happen if I didn’t want to do that (not come back) and go to another UC or CSU. Would I have to apply like everyone else who’s applying during the spring or fall? I also can’t take anymore courses at cc bc I’m currently taking all upper division courses. Needing advice on what I can do meanwhile or if I would be able to apply for the following school year to another university.
Thanks

Will you be leaving your current UC in good standing? How many units will you have after you withdraw and how many are upper division units?

I’d start with a gap quarter and use the time to get straight and explore your options. Once you are well into your upper division work, it is really difficult to transfer to another UC or CSU. (there are unit caps for transfers and minimum # of units you need to take at the school granting your degree) Unless it would be detrimental to your well being, it probably makes the most sense to stick where you are for the 4th year - which is really more like 8 months.

Have you spoken to a counselor on campus? They would be helpful in processing this step and direct you to those at your school to help during this time. Take care of yourself.

I left in good standing. 1 was at the UC for 2 quarters =24 uc units . And prior to that I got my adt at a cc with 109 transferable units . Putting me at 133 . I’m currently trying to apply to csu’s Because that’s the best option for my situation right now but I don’t know how they’re going to take that.

I did speak to them and I was told that they would just take the max units and I guess the rest would go to waste. Hopefully everything works out

24 quarter units = 16 semester units. For UC transfer purposes, your non-UC lower division units (from community colleges) would be capped at 70 semester units (however, all courses count for subject credit). Adding 16 semester units from UC would mean that you have 86 semester units for the purpose of transferring to a different UC.

https://www.ucdavis.edu/sites/default/files/upload/files/f17tip_unitlimits.pdf suggests that 86 semester units may cause problems if you try to transfer to UCD or UCM (80 semester unit limit) and just barely avoids trouble at UCLA (86.5 semester unit limit). However, the document is a few years old, so you may want to ask each campus of interest directly if you want to transfer to a different UC.

CSU policies may be different.
