So I transferred to UCLA last year, Fall 2009, and my first quarter I dropped physics. I have passed all classes since then, but am worried about this quarter. I am taking my second physics class and a lab class. Both are difficult for me. I decided to enroll in just two classes, knowing that both are hard to pass and that taking a 3rd class would be too much. I have a feeling that I will get below C- in both classes. School is really difficult for me (I try very hard) and I don't want to be dismissed. The total units I am enrolled in total to 9 units. I also know that if I get below 1.5 GPA that I will be subject to dismissal. Does that mean will have no chance to improve? Any suggestions?

My plan is to speak to a school counselor after my midterm on Monday.

Have faith in yourself. It feels like every Econ class I take is hopelessly difficult and that I would fail but I somehow always pull through. Until you know your actual midterm score, you have no reason to doubt yourself.

I still think he’ll come out fine or at least he’s acting preemptively without knowing the results of the midterm. Some professors are pretty lenient, Nostra. You could be the worst student in the entire class with more than a standard deviation away from the mean and still come out with a C!

(This is not the same as “easy” professors who reward a lot of A’s. A lot of “hard” professors don’t let their students fail.)
