Transferring After 1 Year From a UC to Cal (Possible?Crazy?)

To start, I know of people who have done this before. Although it may rare, I don't think it's impossible.

I'm starting college this fall as a freshman at UCD. In order to transfer, I'd have to fill out the application come November -before I finish a single class. That said, I don't have an impacted major, I have a decent amount of AP credit (12-14 units), and I can finish 60 units within a year (15-16-16-Summer-AP credit should be more than enough ~70 units). If you don't mind the self-adulation here, looking at the statistics, I was a borderline reject from Cal's past admissions cycles (3.7, 1960 SAT). In addition, my ECs are very good. Since applying from last November, they've gotten a lot better.

I am very serious about getting to Cal, and am willing to do just about anything to get there. Any insight/suggestions/admonishment?

BUMP for some forum love...

Is there a way you can get all of your GE's done? I think that if you can do that and your major is non-impacted you stand a good chance, especially with good EC's from your HS years. If you can't get them done I'd app next year. Furthermore, I'd only recommend apping if you KNOW that you can get A's and A-'s in whatever you take. You need a GPA that's above 3.7 on a UC level to show them you can be competitive.

me too i"m trying to transfer in a year cus I have got two years of foreign work before I started attending cc. Im scared of having to make units if i follow the IGETC. sigh. and all my ECs were done in the foreign country. do i have a chance for CAL as well?

How do I find out which GE's I need to finish for transferring? It doesn't seem like my school has that many requirements.
