Is it possible to transfer to Umich after one year at MSU? From what I've seen, most people that transfer have spent two years at another school but is there any chance of transferring if you've only spent a year somewhere else?

You have to spend at least one school year at msu before transferring. From what I heard, it is possible.

Yes it’s possible. I only spent a year at another school before coming to Michigan.

It’s possible, my oldest son had a friend who did a year at Michigan Tech engineering and didn’t care for the UP so transferred to Michigan engineering and didn’t encounter any issues. Might be a college by college “thing” too - so it might depend on which college at Michigan you are thinking of transferring into. I know for first year engineering the class flow schedules are virtually identical for Tech, MSU and UofM freshmen. Tech has a required CAD class I believe that MSU and Michigan don’t have, but that’s about the only difference that I’m aware of. I know this because “we parents” with recently completed freshman engineering students were "comparing’ what classes our kids took as freshman this past year.
