Transferring after Freshman year

Well, I'm going to college next year, and, well, although it's a good school and all, I really would like to try my hand at some of the colleges that I got denied from - colleges like Rice, MIT, Northwestern, etc.

That got me thinking: how much do colleges look at high school records? Do they even look at them at all? Please don't use the schools that I listed as examples, just in general, basically.

it really just depends on the school. after a certain amount of credit hours completed colleges dont even look at your high school record.

I’m in your same exact spot. I’m thinking that I will give this other school a shot (b/c they gave me full tuition), and if I don’t like it I will tranfer to somewhere else. Where are you going for your freshman year? Do you think it makes a big difference when it comes to chances at tranferring elsewhere?
